Alumni Outcomes

a group of new GW Anthropology PhD Alumni

The Department of Anthropology prepares students for competitive careers in medicine, public health, psychology, research and more. Our alumni are published authors, tenured professors and archaeologists leading fieldwork expeditions around the world.

Recent alumni are engaged in projects including researching human-canine relationships and coevolution, organizing symposia to promote women in STEM and using 3D imaging to investigate stress-related defects in ape teeth.

Our alumni have won commendations such as the Academy of Achievement's Golden Plate Award, the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship, the National Geographic Young Explorers Grant and the Wenner-Gren Foundation Wadsworth International Fellowship.
